On May 3, 2017, at a festive ceremony held in Jerusalem, the Yakir Keren Hayesod award was bestowed by Minister of Defense Avigdor Liberman and by KH leadership upon KH Chile Chairman Eduardo Miguel Avayú Guiloff.
During this moving evening, a short video clip produced in his honor was screened, with former Israeli Navy Commander General (R.) and former IDF military Attaché to Chile Alex Tal saying warm words of praise about him.
Eduardo Miguel Avayú Guiloff, President of Keren Hayesod Chile since 2008, was born in 1959. He is Vice President of Indumotora, a company dedicated to representing and distributing cars, buses and trucks. He is also engaged in the field of education.
He first joined Keren Hayesod from 1989 to 1991. In 2002, at the invitation of the then-President, Jose Codner, himself a Yakir KH Award recipient (2006), he returned to KH and became active in the Dor Achshav group. He also became involved in various institutions in the Israelite Community of Santiago – as Director of FOBEJU (Scholarship Fund for Jewish Education in Chile) and as President of the La Dehesa Golf Club for members of the Jewish community. In addition, he helped create the 3G Leaders Project and JBC (Jewish Business Club) Chile, which advises young entrepreneurs on their first steps in the business world.
Eduardo indisputably follows in the footsteps of his father, Joseph, who was also President of KH and a great supporter of everything related to the Jewish people.
