On October 7th, thousands of terrorists from Gaza infiltrated Israel and massacred over 1,400 civilians and soldiers.
Israel is again under attack, with thousands of rockets being fired from Gaza into heavily populated cities and towns — in Gaza border area communities, Be’er Sheva, Sderot, Ashkelon and Ashdod in the south to the central cities of Tel Aviv, Rishon LeZion, and Israel’s capital, Jerusalem.
Keren Hayesod-UIA, in partnership with the Government of Israel, is urgently spearheading a mobile shelter project for the protection of Israeli men, women, and children under fire.
During the morning hours of October 7, the terror group Hamas initiated war against Israel, when it launched a
coordinated, massive, deadly attack from Gaza via air, land and sea. Hundreds of Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli communities bordering Gaza in the south, reportedly executing hundreds of Israeli civilians while taking others hostage — including Israeli soldiers. Thousands of Israelis are being treated at local hospitals.
The brutal attack shattered the morning quiet on the festival of Shemini Atzeret-Simchat Torah.
Israel has declared a state of emergency, and the IDF has launched Operation “Swords of Iron.”
A region home to millions of Israelis, the south has been under sustained waves of attacks for nearly two decades. Its residents are vulnerable to missile and mortar attacks at any hour.
An entire generation of Israelis in the south has grown up in the shadow of emergency sirens, whether as babies in their cribs at night; as children in nursery, kindergarten, and elementary school; as collegiates; and as working adults living their daily lives. These attacks have provoked Israeli responses and triggered major defensive operations, including Operation “Cast Lead” in 2008; Operation “Pillar of Defense” in 2012; Operation “Protective Edge” in 2014, “Guardian of the Walls” in 2021, and Operation “Dawn” in 2022.
That Shabbat of Simchat Torah became one of the worst pogroms in Jewish history and the worst since the establishment of the State of Israel.
Commemorating the memory of the victims is our national duty.
THE URGENT NEED: MOBILE BOMB SHELTERS
The security situation in the south of Israel continues to be tense. Residents are under attack and must take precautions to safeguard themselves and their families. Regretfully, attacks on the Israeli civilian population are unlikely to end soon.
ISRAEL IS AT WAR.
Thus, the deployment of mobile protective shelters will enable residents to take cover in seconds. This will also elevate their sense of security in times of emergency and allow them to carry on with their daily routines.
Your generous donation of US $15,000 will cover the cost of purchasing a Mobile Bomb Shelter – which will greatly increase the sense of security among the civilian population throughout Israel’s southern region.
Residents in the south have mere seconds to take cover in public bomb shelters.
Seconds can make the difference between life and death.
