Yom Kippur
“Unetaneh Tokef” is a thousand-year-old prayer in the form of a poem, reflecting the Jewish people’s devotion to their faith. The prayer is the central thread of this video clip, bringing together centuries of Jewish tradition and the sanctity of the period from Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The video is set against the backdrop of film footage from the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The clip carries an impressive message that the history of the Jewish people is embedded in Jewish consciousness from generation to generation, that we have bravely faced many challenges and with common purpose can look forward to the future with confidence.
