Rehabilitative Care for Children with Severe Disabilities
A one-of-a-kind collaboration between the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp and Keren Hayesod-UIA took place to support survivors of the October 7 massacres in Israel. Ten subsidized spots were offered for Israelis to attend a music camp in Los Angeles from March 7-14, 2024. The collaboration aimed to connect powerful stories of heroism and passion with music as a force of healing and unity. With 25 years of experience, the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp provides mentorship from renowned musicians like Slash, Bill Wyman, Steven Tyler, and Roger Daltrey.
The story begins with David Fishof, Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp founder and renowned music producer, as he visited Israel after October 7. Attending the funeral of Yotam Haim, who was kidnapped to Gaza and later mistakenly shot by the IDF, Fishof was awed by the sad instrumental music that emerged from the crowd. As he realized it was a natural part of the healing process in these challenging times, it inspired him to make a move, inviting professional and amateur musicians directly impacted by the war.
A delegation of 10 members, ages ranging from 18 to 52, including survivors of the Nova music festival families affected by Hamas and Yotam’s brother, set out to share their experiences with people from all around the world. Keren Hayesod-UIA took this opportunity to empower Israel’s heroes, advocate for the return of our hostages, facilitate healing, and contribute to Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
